Structural Design of Offshore Structures Using SACS Software
Our offshore structures design course is divided into three individual modules which will take the learner from a complete novice to an intermediate-level user.
- ACL-OFF 101 – Introduction to the Design of Fixed Offshore Platforms
- ACL-OFF 102 – Design of Simple Deck Structure with SACS Software
- ACL-OFF 103 – Offshore Platform Design with SACS Software
The modules are designed sequentially to take care of each learner irrespective of the stage they are in the design of offshore structures using SACS software. A brief description of what to expect in each module is given in the sections below. The three courses can be taken as a complete course or as individual modules. A detailed course content along with the price for each module is provided when you click on the title.
ACL-OFF 101 – Introduction to the Design of Fixed Offshore Platforms
This course introduces the participants to the types of structures used in an offshore environment including fixed leg platforms, floating structures and subsea systems. It also discusses the criteria used in the selection of the type of offshore platform to be deployed at a location, and the factors to consider in the structural design of an offshore platform. While the module does not involve the design of an offshore structure with any specific software, it explains the principles to be adopted in the design of offshore platforms including modelling. load application, and analysis, irrespective of the software used.
ACL-OFF 102 – Design of Simple Deck Structure with SACS Software
This course introduces the participants to Bentley SACS software (Connect Edition, Version 12 and above) for use in the design of a simple offshore deck structure. The aim is to expose the trainees to the SACS software environment, thus, it is suitable for people who have no prior knowledge of the software. The course will introduce the participant to the SACS interface, how to model a simple steel structure, loading, application of dead, live and wind loads in SACS software, running of the analysis and extraction of results.
ACL-OFF 103 – Offshore Platform Design with SACS Software
This module is suitable for people familiar with the use of SACS software for design of simple structures, but would like to be able to apply it for the in-place analysis and design of a complete offshore platform including both topside and jacket. This will include Precede, pile-soil interaction (PSI), Seastate, joint can checks, etc. For people with no prior knowledge of offshore platform design or SACS software, modules ACL-OFF 101 and 102 will be a pre-requisite for this course.
